“What if I’m down? What if I’m out?
What if I’m someone you won’t talk about?”
~ Harry Styles.
June 1889.
As Gaby waits for her wedding day, she talks with her father about Vincent and the bogus petition circulating around town. Henri advises Gaby that nothing good comes from dwelling on the past, and suggests that she might want to discreetly apologize to Vincent.
During one of their walks beyond the asylum’s walls, Pierre asks a strangely quiet Vincent about his demeanor. Vincent mentions Gaby’s letter and shares about their chance meeting in Luxembourg Garden. As they rest in the shade, Pierre tells Vincent the story for how he came to asylum. Later that night, Samira visits Vincent in a dream. Unable to get back to sleep, he paints “Starry Night.”
Meanwhile, Madeleine sends Gauguin a love letter which he doesn’t reply to, given how his last letter to her the previous October was intercepted by her father. Back in Seville, Tiena finally reunites with her mother. Her joy is short-lived when she learns that Danior remains a fixture in the community and might cause trouble for them now that she’s back in town.
