“Oh, loneliness will blind you
In between the wrong and the right…”
~ The Eagles.
September & October 1989.
Michael travels to Berlin as part of the base soccer team and crosses through “Checkpoint Charlie” and walks the streets of East Berlin. Meanwhile, Samina works on Ronit’s new movie, “Chandrika.” Later that night, she paints her mystery man from many a recurring dream while bathed in moonlight and begs him to return to her once more.
Before his last TDY to Sardinia, Michael receives a letter from Teena and discovers that Tran no longer works at the chow hall. Back in Dracut, Gary and his “on again, off again” girlfriend attend a concert in Boston.
Samina’s “Chandrika” become a huge hit hit, with her face plastered on billboards all over Bombay. On the way to her next film shoot, she wonders aloud about fame and stardom and how empty it all feels when there’s no one to share your success with, causing Rajani to remind her that anyone would be thrilled to trade places with her.
Later that night, Michael climbs a building under construction behind dorm 11 and wonders why Teena bothered to reach out to him now.
