“How much more are we supposed to tolerate?
Can’t you see there’s more to me than my mistakes…”

January & February 1890.
With Jo nearing her due date, Theo’s youngest sister Willemien (“Wil”) stays with them in Paris until after the baby is born. She asks after Vincent and his health, and references a letter she received from him in early December. Theo confides to her that Vincent may not be ready to make the trip up north as hoped, having recently experienced another set back.
Emile returns to Paris and learns from his father about Charlotte’s engagement to someone else in his absence, along with Charles Laval’s proposal to Madeleine. Emile loses his temper and blames his father for losing Charlotte. In response, his father cuts off Emile’s allowance and kicks him out of the house. With nowhere to go, Emile contacts Theo and Père Tanguy and arranges a lottery to sell off his paintings.
Tiena’s uncle Luca visits from Marseilles. Seeking forgiveness from Isolda and his niece, they reluctantly take him in. However, upon learning of the relationship between Tiena and Juan Carlos, he expresses his disapproval. In return, both women tell him to leave and never return to “Casa de Mara.”
Meanwhile, Pierre stops by Vincent’s room while he’s working on “Almond Blossoms” to say goodbye.
