“My eyes have seen you
Free from disguise
Gazing on a city under
Television skies…”
~ The Doors.
July 1966.
Patrick comes face to face with Tien and her twin daughters. Speaking to her in French, he offers to lead her and her children away from the carnage. After a brief hesitation, she agrees directs him toward her family’s home in Quy Nhon roughly 40 miles away. As they leave the burning village behind them, Sgt “Hero” discovers Patrick’s absence.
While visiting with her family for summer break, April gets a phone call from Clayton inviting her to Richmond to meet his family. Excited to make the trip, she happily agrees and boards the train from Chicago. Once there, she’s overwhelmed by the size of Clayton’s estate and the obvious wealth of his family.
Meanwhile, Sgt “Hero” orders a “dust off” and notifies Major Sparks about the actions of his men. He’s ordered to “keep a lid on it” and to “tie up any loose ends,” which involves finding Patrick who has been reclassified from “MIA” to “AWOL.”
