“I’ll show you my private things
Like my scrapbook of fantasies…”
~ Silversun Pickups.
July 1966.
Patrick and Tien evade US and Vietcong patrols as they near Quy Nhon. On the outskirts of the city Tien shares about her late husband, who was French, and the difficulties her and her daughters experienced since his assassination by the Vietcong. When Patrick asks about her plans once she returns home, Tien shuts down.
Meanwhile, Clayton proposes marriage in front of his parents and older brother. A stunned April happily accepts in front of his equally surprised parents. When April leaves the living room to phone her parents back home, Clayton’s mom raises objections about April’s “pedigree.”
For Gus and Colleen, there’s no escaping how empty their home feels since Patrick left for the Army. Colleen suggests that they should sell the home and move to LA to be closer to Liz, but a reluctant Gus refuses to move. Colleen visits with the Pastor for some guidance and learns about April’s engagement.
